Alaska

We had so much fun in Alaska this year!!! It was hard to leave Leah, but after the long flight, I realized that we did the right thing by leaving her. Brads Aunt and Uncle were so nice to let us come to their house in Talkeetna. We spent as much time as we could fishing! We also tried to be helpful to Brads cousins, Keith and Heidi. She is on bed rest and they have a 2 year old boy and a business to take care of. So I got to play with Hadley, and I learned the ins and outs of the "fish shack" business. We loved going into town, and couldn't get enough of our Latitude Burgers (or Attitude Burgers, as Brian likes to call them!) But most of all...we fished!!!

Some trips were better than others, so I was glad that on the morning that I decided to get up at 5 am, we caught about 80 fish between the 7 of us! I was quite proud of my silver salmon...the biggest one caught the whole week!
Leslie and Justin with their fish.
Brad & I fishing... you gotta admit that my husband is HOT while he fishes!

Grandpa Garth had the time of his life! He patiently waited when we were at  home, but the moment someone said "fish" he was out the door to put his waders on!
Our slaughter!! We all had our limits in the first 10 minutes, so we did a lot of catch and release. How could you not when a huge salmon bites every time your lure goes in the water. I could literally see the salmon in the water at my feet! They jumped out of the water all the time!!
Alaska is so beautiful! I loved playing with my big camera and my lenses. Its impossible not to take a good picture here. Every where I turned something just begged to be photographed. Its absolutely magnificent! Here are some of my favorites!
A beaver swimming by us with her babies in her mouth.

Mt. McKinley is so huge and beautiful. Its rarely clear enough to see it. I was glad to get a picture while it was out.
The mist on the river at 6 am.
Randy and Donna have a beautiful lake in their back yard. I loved taking pictures, and sitting on the deck reading.

The boys went out one night and saw a Mama black bear and two cubs. I was so sad that I missed it. So the next day, I paid close attention to the shore on the other side of the river, hoping to catch my lucky break. And luck was on my side! A Mama and a cub came out, but was soon scared off by this guy. I had my big lens on and was able to zoom in close!
