Brad and I seem to have the worst luck with computers, equipment, printers, technology in general. And my home computer has been no exception. We had a lot of problems when we first bought our mac, but after a few weeks, and some long winded complaints to managers, we finally got it fixed, and have enjoyed it ever since. It has been my life line to the outside world, my creative outlet, keeper of my memories and all
things me. But one seemingly normal day brought with it a terrible incident. The Mac died! Just stopped. I did what I could to revive it, but to no
avail. I wasn't too stressed out, because we had it backed up. Of course we had it backed up...right? (who doesn't back up their computer? Silly really.) But a breath stopping conversation with my husband
reveled that we did NOT have it backed up. WHAT?!?!? I guess our
communication skills are
defiantly lacking, because I was
certain that Brad told me that he had gotten it backed up. If I had known it wasn't, Brad wouldn't have been living his life nag free for the last while. So, I begrudgingly took a trip to the Mac store. My least favorite place. I walk in, holding the lifeless computer, and can see them
wringing their hands,
their evil wheels spinning as they try to contemplate how much they squeeze out of me. Dignity, money...whatever they want. A short while later, they confirm the worst. The hard drive has crashed. They can't
retrieve any information. Luckily they can replace the hard drive for free (what? Free is in their vocabulary?) But, I sit with weeks of work ahead of me. Luckily, my pictures, and my scrapbook supplies are all safely put away on
DVD's. But the work it is going to take me to put them all back on, keyword them. Re edit videos, update documents, gather all my information again, is daunting! And
believe me, the first thing I will be doing is supervising the back up of the system. There will not be a miscommunication again. Wish me luck as I undertake this stupid project, that could have been so easily avoided.
"No I hate technology,
it always breaks down on me,
and now my life sucks you see,
always and forever."
