We had an amazing time in Alaska! We took so many pictures, so I’ve limited myself to posting my favorite 10. {okay 11} I left Leah with my parents and I have to admit that I cried when I left her—harder than I thought I would. But we headed to the airport, and the excitement took over
Once we got there, I had the overwhelming job of taking 4 grown men grocery shopping, with the largest grocery list ever! Seriously we were there for hours, and left with 5 overflowing shopping carts. We finally got to the new cabin. Doug and Carol, my amazing in laws, bought a cabin this year. It’s amazing! It was fun being there and seeing all the great things they have done with it! Once the whole family got there, the fun started.
We spent most our time fishing—that’s the reason for the trip. We must have been spoiled in previous years, because when a slow morning of fishing came we hardly knew what to do. But the salmon fishing finally picked up {on the first morning that I went out} and after that we “slayed ‘em.” We had a good time exploring some of the trails around Talkeetna. We didn’t see the wildlife we’d hoped for, but still had fun
Halibut fishing was really cool. It’s different than Salmon fishing. The first fish I had one felt like an eighty pounder, but when I pulled it up it was just a little guy. Everyone caught a lot of fish, the biggest in our families was thirty pounds. I caught 7, a fact that I was excited about {although the guys from the charter did most the work} After Halibut fishing we drove like mad to Anchorage to get Brain and Kami to the 1 am flight. With loud music, and lots of soda, we made it home at 3 am. Needless to say, we were bushed!.
