Five years ago we were sealed for eternity.
I’m so proud of us. It was hard work getting there. We did a lot of things wrong--took the long road. But we did it. Our sealing is the single most important thing we’ve ever done. It’s the thing that matters most to me now.
I can’t imagine dealing with all of this if I didn’t know that Brad was mine forever–If we’d let life get the best of us and never made it there.
I was nervous for the day to come–Another first–I started the day with a prayer. I needed peace and comfort. I needed this day to not consume me.
I was baby sitting my two nieces, so needless to say, I didn’t get a lot of sleep. Baby Scout woke my me at 5:45 and I was exhausted and scared for the day ahead, considering the lack of sleep I had from dealing with three little girls and a blaring house alarm in the middle of the night. {Not fun}
Scout gave me the sweetest gift that morning. Through at first, she acted wide awake, ready to play, I pulled her in my bed, and laid her on my chest and there she stayed. She pulled her blanket over her head, and just stared at the wall while I patted her back.
I was in heaven! This is a non-snuggly, squirmy little baby, and she snuggled with me! Even her Mom was amazed, because she never snuggles. It was like she knew what this day was and she wanted to make me feel better.
After a while of patting her back, her blinks got longer and slower, and she finally fell asleep.
She woke up a few minutes later, and rolled off my chest. I was so sad. I really wanted to go back to sleep. But, she turned and snuggled up on my arm. I patted her belly and she laid her tiny hand on top of mine, almost like she was saying “It’s okay Aunt Tahshie, we can go back to sleep now.”
We slept like that for an hour and a half. It was the sweetest little moment ever.
I really think this darling baby gave me just the dose of love and courage to face the day and truly turn it into a good day, like I set out to do.
I got to play with the girls the rest of the morning. We had a lazy, lovely morning of breakfast and cartoon watching on the large couch cushion bed we’d made on the floor the night before for our slumber party.
Stephanie’s mom, Grandma Sandy was so nice and she took all three girls for me while I went to the temple that afternoon.
It’s the second time I’d been there. I cried through most of it, but felt like I wasn’t as big of a mess as the last time. So that’s an improvement, right?
I wanted to go in looking for answers to every single one of my questions (that’s like a bazillion) but I determined that wasn’t what I was there for that day. I just closed my eyes and let the peace and happiness fill me. I soaked it all in, like filling up a canteen with lots of water to get me through the weeks ahead.
Carol was so nice and knew that I’d need something to do that night, so her, Doug and I braved the lines at Cafe Rio. {so good by the way....I’m going to get so fat!} and then met the kids at the Grandparent’s for some snow cones!
All in all, I felt pretty good about the day. I hope I can find a way to make all the “hard days” good days.
What do you do to turn hard days into good days? Help a sista out. {Got lots of them coming. Father's Day is tomorrow.}

I am sorry I totally blog stock you. I am a friend of your sis-in-law Steph. My name is Tami :) I gave birth to a stillborn little guy at 20 weeks and when times get tough I surround myself with tons of people. I force myself to find things to do. For special occasions my girls and I ( My hubby is still not ready) go up to the cemetery with balloons and send them to Brandon in heaven. My girls are still young so it makes him more real to them like a baby brother and they love to send him a balloon to play with. Another thing I like to do on my bad days is call Steph. You have such an amazing sis-in-law that is always willing to lend a listening ear. Sorry if I totally creeped you out by replaying :) If you want to see who I am Steph has a link to my blog on her page Tami and Dave. Good luck with tomorrow :)
Tahsha I have no way to relate what you are going through but I have thought about you so much this week because I have to give a talk in church tomorrow and the topic is "Press forward with steadfastness in Christ". I really have no words for you other than to read 2nd Nephi Chapter 30 verses 19-21 and to also read the words to How Firm A Foundatiion. I know how bad I miss my family since we moved to Hawaii and whenever I start feeling sorry for myself for being homesick I think of you. Since Brad's passing I often wonder who I will never see again on this earth. You are so strong and I have gained so much from your blog and it hashelped me be a better wife adn mother. Keep your spirits up and rest assured you will be with Brad again:)
I have had a couple stressful things to deal with in the past couple of months, and I have found that the absolute worst thing I can do is let myself sit and do nothing but worry. Not that thinking about it is bad, but worrying about it can be so bad and consuming to me. Anyway, the best thing I have found is finding someone to be with or someone to serve. Sometimes I'll go to church and try to look around at my friends and neighbors and think about their situations and pretty soon I realize that there are a ton of people who could use a little service. It's especially awesome when I involve my little girls in it too.
I am so glad that my girls were able to help you. I felt bad that I wasn't able to be there with you on Friday. I know these little ones are so much closer to Heaven than we are. I am so glad that Scout was there to give you a snuggle (lucky you!:). Thanks so much for letting my girls come and stay with you. They Love you and Leah!
Sweet little Scout!! What a special moment to share, and a blessing! When I have a bad day, friends usually save it. Honestly, what would we do without Parks days, lunch dates, just play dates, or bach. nights??? You know we are always here, good days, or bad. Whenever, wherever. Love you!
That is so sweet. What a special moment, and awesome that you got to go to the temple too.
I don't know that my hard days are worth even mentioning but for what it's worth I've got two kinds: the pity party kind of hard days when what I really need is to get my mind off things by getting out and being with people, and then the depressing kind of hard days where what I really need is an extra dose of spirituality and strength from the Lord. Those are the days when I try to study my scriptures extra long and read an Ensign article, pray a lot, etc . . . and mostly just remind myself that God does care about me and I'm important to him too. So are you!
so i totally blog stock you too! i am heidi and brandons cousin and have heard so much good of you, brad, and your little girl! during a hard time in my life a lady at church shared an experience about what helped her during a rough patch in her life. she said to surround yourself in service. simple things. she said it was like magic to her. i've been trying it alot more and it really is magic. it helps you not get in those hard moments as much. i think you are amazing and your blog has given me so much strength through a hard time in my life. you have amazing people surrounding you and i admire you in so many ways!!! thank you for sharing some of your thoughts!
